Crypto 101 with Jonathan · Lesson 8 of 8
The market never sleeps. Who’s watching?
Crypto trades around the clock. What that means for anyone holding it inside a long-term plan.

In this lesson
- Stock markets close. Crypto markets do not: they trade 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Big moves can happen overnight or on a weekend, when nobody is looking.
- There are two honest answers to “who’s watching”: you, or a strategy built to respond to conditions around the clock. Both have trade-offs.
Lesson notes
Here is a question most people never think to ask: who is watching your portfolio at 3 a.m.? If you hold stocks, the answer is nobody, and it does not matter, because the market is closed. Crypto is different. It trades 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.
That means a big move can happen while you are asleep, at work, or on a weekend away. For some assets, buying and holding through every swing works fine. Crypto’s swings are bigger and faster, and they do not keep office hours.
So there are two honest answers to the question. One: you watch it yourself, and accept that you cannot watch all the time. Two: a managed strategy watches conditions for you and can respond, at 3 a.m. or 3 p.m., according to rules set in advance. Neither answer removes risk. No strategy can prevent every loss. The difference is whether anyone is paying attention when the market moves.
That is the problem BlockTrust was built around, and it is the story Jonathan tells in the video above: the night he realised nobody was watching, and what he built in response. How a managed strategy works, and what it cannot do, is the subject of the free class.
